5. Asteroids (1979)
Loosely based on computer space, the first ever coin-operated game, Asteroids used vector graphics to make superb use of simulated inertia in deep space. The developers also added a high-score table to the game where players could enter their initials, making astoids the first ever game with this feature.

The first coin-op designed specifically to apeal to female players, game designer Toru Iwatani single-handedly broke the profuse arcade trend for space-based shooters. Origionally named puck-man due to the main characters disk like shape,the title was changed outside of Japan to pac-man to avoid creative graffiti on the game cabinates. Many sequals have follewed, both by namco in japan and midway in the US, with the most recent being the 2007 release of pac-man chamionship edition for xbox live arcade.
1. Space Invaders (1978)
Released by Taito in japan, space invaders, which the game designer Tomohoiro Nishikado based on his interprateations of H.G. wells' war of the worlds novel, spearheaded a new and prolific era for the worldwide video game industry. Now seen as the most influential arcade game of all time, Space invaders has been ravamped, repackaged and released on almoast every platform.
Published by the giuness world record limeted company in december 2007 in their gamers edition for the next year.
